The Road Seems Shorter When You Walk With A Friend

I am stating a new walk and am happy to have a christian friend willing to join me on this walk. My new walk is going to be life changing not only for me but my whole family. Will it be easy? No. But it will help to have friends share my walk and at time's me following in their foot steps.
This new walk is a walk of freedom. Freedom from a financial down slope. Freedom from being controlled by the marketing lies that tell me I have to have this or that to be happy. Freedom to live a healthy life full of the wonderful gift's that GOD wants me to have.
I started to think of this walk mostly after a visit with a christian friend, Heather, who told me about some of the things she does to live a frugal, back-to-Basics  type of life. You can visit her blog on the link below if you want to learn of all the wonderful things she has done in her home. What a cook, mother, friend, christian she is.
My walk will start with a few baby steps. I need to repair a garden plot using the "Back to Eden" guide. (Visit that web page, watch his movie) I wont plant in it this year, only set it up for next spring. And have a meeting with a financial advisor to get control of or finances. That meeting is set for tomorrow morning.
I use to take pride in the fact that my family didn't have any real debt. Long story short, without pointing fingers or judgement, we ended up with a bunch of credit card debt. To compound the problem, we are totally dependent on the grocery store prices.
I don't have a freezer and I don't can. The costs in the stores has sky rocketed and our eating habits has stayed the same. This is looking sad all around. Will find out what help is available to get us out of the deepest waters then am making plans to keep it that way.
Those plans? I start sharing a garden with Heather. Share the planting and all the work of tending and preserving them produce. Canning, dehydrating, and if the Lord willing, freezing. Also learning to be a bulk shopper slowly.
Working full time, I am not going to be able to do everything that Heather does or what other friends God puts in my path do, but I will share my journey with you.
These blogs will start out very slow because nothing happens overnight. My wish is that with Gods blessing, this walk I am on, in some way will be able to help others how are needing to start a new walk too.
                                                                   Blessings to you all.
